2006 Terms and Conditions
RENTAL DURATION: Minimum rental is 5 days and 10 days for collection / return in Botswana / Zimbabwe. When calculating
the number of days, the day of collection is counted as day one of the rental regardless of collection time. The day
of return is counted as the final day.
DEPOT HOURS FOR PICK-UP & DROP-OFF: Our depot branches are in Windhoek, Johannesburg,
Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Maun (no 4 Wheel drives vehicles available in Maun), Harare and Victoria Falls.
Office hours are from Monday to Friday from 08h00 to 16h30. Collections and returns on weekends and public holidays by arrangement only. Sunday collections and returns are subject to a surcharge of R300.
TRANSFER: Airport and local hotel transfers for all branches = R100 per transfer. Windhoek is R200 per transfer.
ONE WAY RENTALS:
Within South Africa = R2 500
Outside South Africa = R3 000
Surcharges (Collections or return) for Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia = R2 500
INFRINGEMENTS: The Depot reserves the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated
administration costs and / or accidents including third party vehicle / property damage not reported on the return of
the vehicle.
EXCHANGE RATE / CURRENCY VARIATIONS: All credit card transactions are conducted in South
African Rand. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Maui Camper Hire accepts no liability for any variances up or down.
CREDIT CARDS: If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a
customer.
LICENCE: A valid non-endorsed driver’s license is required - international license is preferred.
MINIMUM AGE: Drivers must be 21 years or older.
MULTIPLE RENTALS: Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify the renter for our long-term rate. Motorhome and car
rentals in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 3-month period
e.g. one 14-day rental plus one 7-day rental qualifies for the 21-day rate.
ROAD RESTRICTIONS: Vehicles may be taken into South Africa’s neighboring states
but are not allowed into Angola or Malawi. All insurance cover is void if vehicles enter prohibited areas.
The depot reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to
adverse road or weather conditions, political situations or any other reason.
REPAIRS: Repairs of up to R1 000 may be affected without authorization and will be reimbursed upon presentation of
receipts. When over R1000 we need to be contacted for authorization.
CHANGE OF VEHICLE: The depot reserves the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle should the requested
vehicle not be available due to unforeseen circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not
entitle the hirer to any refund.
CANCELLATION FEES
If cancelled 25 days prior to pick-up = No charge
If cancelled 24 days to 6 days prior to pick-up= 15% of gross rate
If cancelled 5 days to 0 days (no show)= 50% of gross rate
If vehicle is returned early for any reason = no refund
TAXES: 14% VAT is included in gross rates. Above prices are subject to change in accordance with changes in government
taxes.
PETS: No pets are permitted in our vehicles.
DISCLAIMER: Illustrations and text in any of the depots brochures are only a representation of the vehicle depicted.
Variances in the vehicle(s) offered for rental could occur due to modifications and / or upgrades to the vehicle design.
INSURANCE OPTIONS: Our Depot offers 4 very competitive insurance options for peace of mind during your holiday:
No Cover: In the event of any damage to either a Maui Camper Hire vehicle or third party vehicle / property, the hirer
will be liable for the first R75 000. The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of windscreen
and / or radio. The excess of R75 000 can be paid by cash, traveler’s cheques or credit card (a manual imprint of the
credit card will be taken and the amount will have to be authorised by the bank). This is fully refundable on return
of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the Maui Camper Hire vehicle or
third party vehicle / property. Hirer is also responsible for all tyre damage.
To reduce this excess, the depot offers the following options:
Standard Cover: At R120 (2WD Motorhomes) and R150 (4WD Motorhomes) per day this cover will reduce this excess for any
damage to either the Camper Hire vehicle or third party vehicle / property to R30 000. The excess of R30 000 can be
paid by cash, traveler’s cheques or credit card (a manual imprint of the credit card will be taken). This is fully
refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the Camper
Hire vehicle or third party vehicle and property. Note: hirer is responsible for all tyre damage
Super Cover: Super Cover at R140 (2WD Motorhomes) and R190 (4WD Motorhomes) per day will reduce this excess for any
damage to either the Camper Hire vehicle or third party vehicle / property to R15 000. The option of Complete Cover
will also waive the excess for replacement or repair of windscreen and / or radio. Note: hirer is responsible for
all tyre damage
Exclusive Cover: Exclusive Cover at R225 (2WD Motorhomes) and R230 (4WD Motorhomes) per day for all vehicles will
reduce the excess for any damage to either the Camper Hire vehicle or third party vehicle / property to Zero. The option
of Exclusive Cover will also waive the excess for replacement or repair of windscreen and / or radio as well as covering
all tyre damages.
ACCIDENTS: * If the rental vehicle is involved in an accident and is not drivable, a replacement vehicle, if available,
may be collected from the closest branch.
1. If the hirer requires a replacement vehicle to be delivered, then these charges will be for the hirer’s account.
2. The hirer is responsible for the recovery of the damaged vehicle to the original rental depot.
3. If the hirer is unable or unwilling to take a replacement vehicle, no refunds for early termination of the contract
will apply.
4. No refund of rental days lost will be considered during the period in which a replacement vehicle is being organized.
5. Should the hirer continue with a replacement vehicle then a new rental contract and insurance conditions will apply.
The Depot reserves the right to apply the above conditions as they deem fit.
EXCLUSIONS: The hirer will be fully liable for any damage to the Maui Camper Hire vehicle or third party vehicle /
property if:
1. The terms of the rental contract are breached.
2. Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, willful or reckless driving.
3. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
4. Driving on restricted roads. / Areas
5. Water submersion or salt-water damage is caused.
In case of any damage to the Camper Hire vehicle or third party vehicle / property a second excess will be collected to
cover the excess for any subsequent damage.
